...You even have a chance to win wonderful gardening prizes by just being there....
The Great Gardens program was officially launched by the Hon. Judy Edwards, Minister for the Environment at Forrest Place in Perth on the 14 September 2003.
The first Great Gardens workshop was held in Fremantle Town Hall on the 17th September 2003, after which 21 additional workshops were held throughout the Perth metropolitan area. Over 2000 people attended this first series of workshops attracting rave reviews. This series of workshops will be the forerunner for an extensive program that will be on-going and expand throughout the metropolitan region and on into major regional urban centres
The Great Gardens inclusive format brings together local government, state agencies, businesses, community groups and individual landowners so that together we can make the changes that will help improve our environment.
Each event will be customised to the particular location to maximise relevance to participants. Success will bring improved communication, mutual understanding and greater cooperation between the many diverse groups that exist in the urban environment.
Great Gardens workshops provide an opportunity to promote a wide range of new, environmentally friendly products and services. This will encourage market driven best practice in the commercial sector.
By helping Perth gardeners, the Great Gardens will lead to measurable environmental, social and economic improvements in urban and peri-urban communities on the Perth metropolitan region and beyond.
